“Dixie Rock”

This is a great route to access the “DIxie Rock” sandstone cliff as well as overlooking the city of St. George and viewing the St. George, Utah LDS Temple

ROUTE SUMMARY

The Snow Canyon eBike Rental’s ‘Dixie Rock - Pioneer Park / Sugarloaf route is a fun and easy route that ends with a beautiful view of St. George, Utah.

It does NOT go up into the Snow Canyon State Park.

The trail consists of nearly 95% bike paths and crossing a few city streets. The route starts at the roundabout in Ivins, Utah where Snow Canyon Parkway and South Tuacahn Parkway converge. The route then travels East on the bike path that parallels the Snow Canyon Parkway. It then follows the bike path that traverses the open desert terrain and finally drops down into the Pioneer Park / Dixie Rock overlook area.

This trail is easily accessed (within 1 minute) from our rental location.

The route is fairly level for the first half, and then has a few steep short climbs and descents.

This is an ‘Out and Back’ route. You will go out and come back on the same route.

This trail is highly recommended for those that want to enjoy one of the many paved bike paths of St. George, but also reach a destination where you can get off your bike, and hike up to a nice overlook of the city.

We recommend doing this trail if you have already explored Snow Canyon State Park and are looking for another fun route to try. Total distance is approximately 14 miles. We suggest that you ride straight through to Dixie Rock and then once there, take your time and hike around a bit. Take some pictures of the views, take a break, eat some snacks, and then head back. The route does NOT go up into Snow Canyon State Park, but still has some beautiful scenery and backdrops.

*Be sure to lock you eBike up before you leave it alone for any period of time. We do provide bike locks upon request.

Begin Route / Roundabout #1

Pedal north towards the roundabout (approx 300 yards). At the roundabout, turn right (East) to get onto a paved black path on the North side of the road.

*Be careful as you go through the roundabout as there can be busy traffic. We recommend using your throttle to speed through, or else getting off your bike and using the crosswalks.

Stay on the path. You will travel past cross streets and neighborhoods. Keep going straight East on the path. It will parallel the Snow Canyon Parkway.

“Wild Horse” Roundabout”

Go straight through the roundabout and keep going straight East.

Be sure and get some pictures as you pass this unique and beautiful roundabout. Notice the sculptured horses and native Americans on both sides.

Entrada Neighborhood

Keep following the path. You will be traveling next to the ‘Entrada’ neighborhood. These are beautiful southwest flat roofed homes that border a unique golf course.

Fish Pond

You will come to a fishing pond on your left. Stop here and take a break.

There are several benches here to sit and watch the fishermen.

If you go down through the parking lot, you will find a small tunnel going under the road and over into the Snow Canyon Softball complex. You can sit and watch a game, or lay in the grass and just take a break under some nice shade trees.

Just make sure to backtrack and get back on the paved path when leaving.

Restooms, picnic tables, and water available. (seasonal)

Continue on the path.

Snow Canyon Parkway Intersection

You will climb a steep hill to get up to this intersection. (Use your throttle as needed)

At this intersection, you will want get off the black path as it will curve to the left and start going up the hill. Don’t follow the path.

At the intersection, stay in the crosswalk, and cross from the North side of the road to the South side, and then cross in the crosswalk over to the East side of the road. You will continue to go East.

This intersection is very busy. BE CAREFUL and watch for traffic.

Once safely on the East side, you will get back onto another paved bike path that will start climbing to the East.

The name of this black paved path is the ‘Red Hills Parkway Trail’ path. Stay on this path.

This will be a steep climb. Go slow and use your throttle.

Desolate stretch

This next section is dry and desolate. There are no houses or neighborhoods. Enjoy the remote feeling.

Gradual Climb / Steep Descent

You will make a gradual climb until you reach the crest of the hill. From here there will be a steep descent down to the next stop light and intersection.

Take is slow and easy.

Go straight through the intersection and stay on the path.

Tunnel

You will come to a tunnel that goes under the road. Watch for it on your left. Go through the tunnel and you will end at the Dixie Rock parking lot.
